Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that you may have about the way we allocate our properties:

Q Who/what is homehunt® NES?

A homehunt® NES stands for homehunt® North East Scotland and its partnering Landlords are Tenants First Housing Co-operative and Castlehill Housing Association.

****

Q What is Choice Based Lettings?

A CBL is a different process of allocating our properties. We do not have waiting lists, where you wait for us to contact you.  We advertise our properties and you apply for them – giving you the choice of what you want to apply for.  We will then offer and allocate our properties based on the applicant’s best use of the house and the level of housing need.

****

Q How do I apply for priority?

A It is important to note that we still take account of ‘housing need’ and priority will be given to those in greatest need. If you feel that you may have priority for housing, e.g. you are statutory homeless or have a very high medical need, you can apply for a Priority Pass , which may be awarded. Once you have registered we will send out a Pack, which includes a Guide that will explain all about this (and other CBL info) and Priority Passes Application Forms.

****

Q Will the age limitations and bedroom requirements apply?

A Yes. You have to be age 55 years and have a housing support requirement to apply for sheltered housing. Also, you cannot apply for properties that you will ‘overcrowd’.

****

Q Where else can I see available properties?

A Properties will be advertised every two weeks on www.homehunt.info, in the local press (Press & Journal Homes Pages), our own offices and on our phone line on 01224 628101.

****

Q What happens if my bid is unsuccessful?

A Because of the large volume of applicants bidding for properties we are unable to contact every person so you will not be contacted.  You can apply for another property when properties are next advertised.  It is also advisable to register with other landlords to increase any chances of being housed.

We aim to make registering with us as quick and easy as possible and once you are on our system you will be able to put your name forward for any suitable vacancies as they occur.

If you have any queries or want to hear more before you decide to register, please contact on 01224 628101.
