Arbroath
Condor Residents Association
This has recently been set up by eight tenant members in Arbroath.
Their objective is to improve the local environment, community facilities
and services for tenants living in this community just North of Arbroath
which has 49 homes. Rob Pearce, Chairperson said "I am glad to have
the chance to be part of an association which will help build some
community spirit in Arbroath and give the tenants here a stronger voice in
the running of their Co-operative."
They have surveyed all residents to gauge views on a wide range
of issues to see what issues are priorities to local residents. One
such priority issue, due to high numbers of children on the estate, was
road safety and the residents association have been successful in managing
to get a ‘twentys plenty’ zone and pedestrian barriers in the pipeline
for the estate.
They held a Fun Day for tenant members in August with barbecue,
tombolla, bouncy castle, car boot sale, throw the welly competition,
smashing china stall and beer tent. The event was well attended,
particularly by the local children and it raised just over £100. They
have recently received a very kind donation for £200 from the Miss E B
Dundas Trust, an Arbroath based Trust. They have used some of this
money to provide grass, fencing and plant bulbs in the garden of a
resident who is unable to do her own garden.
They have also received £150 from the Volunteers Action Fund, to
enable the committee members to undertake training.
