Houses To Rent

If you want to rent a home you have three choices:

bullet

Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Councils

bullet

Housing Associations/Co-operatives

bullet

Registered Private Landlords

To decide who to rent from, you need to know what each landlord offers and what the differences are.

There are eight housing associations/co-operatives operating in the Aberdeenshire area, these are:

bullet

Aberdeenshire Housing Partnership

bullet

ARK Housing Association

bullet

Castlehill Housing Association

bullet

Grampian Housing Association

bullet

Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association

bullet

Langstane Housing Association

bullet

Margaret Blackwood Housing Association

bullet

Tenants First Housing Co-operative

(Castlehill Housing Association and Tenants First Housing Co-operative have formed a partnership application process called Homehunt NES).

These landlords offer affordable housing for rent and let housing based on peoples' needs. In the case of some local authorities and housing associations/co-operatives they offer housing for people with disabilities.

Aberdeenshire Council and Aberdeen City Council and Housing Associations/Co-operatives

There are two ways you can rent a house from the Council and Housing Associations/Co-operatives:

bullet

By completing an application form and being placed on a waiting list or bidding for a property when a suitable house becomes available.

bullet

If you are homeless or facing homelessness then you should approach your local Council Housing Office for advice. Please see list of local housing offices by clicking here.
