Arbroath
Condor Residents Association
This
has recently been set up by eight tenant members in Arbroath. Their
objective is to improve the local environment, community facilities and
services for tenants living in this community just North of Arbroath which
has 49 homes. Rob Pearce, Chairperson said "I am glad to have the
chance to be part of an association which will help build some community
spirit in Arbroath and give the tenants here a stronger voice in the
running of their Co-operative."
They
held a Fun Day for tenant members in August with barbecue, tombolla,
bouncy castle, car boot sale, throw the welly competition, smashing china
stall and beer tent. The event was well attended, particularly by
the local children and it raised just over £100.
They
have surveyed all residents to gauge views on a wide range of issues to
see what issues are a priority to local residents. Findings to date
would indicate that some landscaping improvements are a priority, as are
providing speed bumps and so these are the issues which the Residents
Association are tackling just now.
They
have recently received a very kind donation for £200 from the Miss E B
Dundas Trust, an Arbroath based Trust. They have also registered to
join CLAN (Community Local Action Network, BTCV Scotland) which offers
advice, support and training to help community groups to improve the local
environment.
