Computer
training for tenants
Twenty-five sheltered
housing tenants across Deeside, Sheddocksley and St Machar are currently
undertaking a course of computer training. They received an
introductory class from Sarah Hunter, Community Development Officer at
Tenants First and are now in the midst of a three part course from Seonaid
McIntosh, Community Development Worker from the New Opportunities Fund.
They have been shown basic skills such as how to use a mouse, how to enter
and edit text and how to play games (solitaire is proving particularly
popular!). They will shortly be shown how to access the Internet and
keep in touch with friends and relatives via e-mail.
There will be
opportunities for the tenants to keep up the practice on their common room
computer, which has free e-mail and Internet access. Ongoing support
will be provided to the tenants as well as the opportunity to receive
further training at the various Leaning Houses across the city.
