School Lodges, Aberdeen

Aberdeen City Council approved the sale of 2 former Janitor Lodges adjacent to schools in Aberdeen, and funding for 4 new homes. The Council stipulated that they wanted to see an innovative solution for the new build and approached Tenants First aware that we have a track record in delivering high performance homes. Through our research into innovative house construction we identified a Canadian system which we believe will help to significantly develop our knowledge and quality of building techniques.

The Super E System focuses on air-tightness, enhanced thermal performance and whole house ventilation and heat recovery. It is a fully “engineered solution” designed for the harshest of Canadian weather conditions. Through discussions with the suppliers, our architects and CHAP Construction, we have concluded that the Super E system offers a much enhanced performance from the standard UK timber frame home. Work began onsite in April 2009, with the homes manufactured in Canada and programmed for delivery shortly thereafter. The 2 properties at Kincorth were completed in May 2010 with the 2 properties in Mastrick being completed in October 2010.
