Donside Urban Village, Aberdeen
Tenants First is leading on the ambitious Donside Urban village project which will incorporate both affordable rentable housing and new homes for sale in addition to commercial and community enterprise initiatives. Planning approval has been granted by Aberdeen City Council for 278 units with a further 31 pending approval.
This is a significant opportunity for investment in affordable housing of real quality in Aberdeen, and the location at the River Don provides a fantastic setting.
Phase 1 of the construction contract which incorporates more than 40 units should be completed by Spring 2012. This will include houses mainly for affordable rent but also a small number for sale and shared equity.

Tenants First Housing Co-operative (the Co-operative) recognises that it plays an important role within the communities in which it has properties. When the Co-operative is letting a new build scheme it will consider the balance of allocations to promote a successful, sustainable community. It is fundamental to the success of Donside Urban village that a balanced community is created and to achieve this, a Lettings Plan has been developed with the aim of addressing the categories of housing need best served to create a balanced community.
