Update on Street Names for Donside
Thank you for participating in the Donside Village Street Name Consultation. We received a good response with a wide variety of suggestions from a cross section of the community which included Tillydrone residents, the Angling Association,Tenants First members and staff. Some of the responses included background information, and historical context. The suggestions were collated into a report format and 4 themes became apparent from all the suggestions put forward:
- Papermaking and Industry
- Fishing and the Don
- Biodiversity and Nature
- Notable people (Tenants First, Inventors and wider Historic figures)
The most popular themes were selected to allow a consistency with the street names through out the village: Papermaking, the River and Donside. Once the suggestions are finalise, which means a street name with a suffix is agreed for each street, they will be sent to Aberdeen City Council who will then make the decision whether to accept the suggestions or create new street names.
We plan to include the process and historical background of the street names in our Members/Residents Pack for Donside Village.
